Volunteer at the NCMA
Welcome to the NCMA Volunteers page! Whether in the galleries or the Museum Park, our volunteers play a vital role in advancing our mission of preserving the people’s art collection. Their support allows the Museum to engage with the community and enrich lives through the power and wonder of art. The NCMA is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment that reflects our vibrant and diverse community. In accordance with state guidelines, we are only accepting applications for Park guides at this time. We look forward to welcoming our volunteers back to the galleries in the coming year. If you are interested in joining our volunteer program, please contact Manager of Visitor and Volunteer Experience Danny Ambar.
Park Volunteers
The NCMA Park Volunteer Group is geared toward individuals and small groups interested in horticulture, landscape design, sculpture, recreation, and staying active and involved in our community. Some projects include mulching trails, removing exotic species, planting seedlings, removing trash, and maintaining art installations, which could include painting, cleaning, or installing art pieces. We enjoy pairing unique skill sets and interests of volunteers to the different offerings within the Park.
We offer various types of outdoor service projects in the Park that are perfect for individuals, groups, and corporate outings. No prior experience is required.
Program Volunteers
The NCMA Volunteer Organization has various committees that work with staff year-round to assist with events and projects. There is always something new around the corner—special exhibitions, workshops, lectures, concerts, films, performances, festivals. To ensure the success of these programs, we rely heavily upon the gifts of time and talent that volunteers give.
Park Guides
Park guides lead interactive tours of the Museum Park from March to November to mixed-age audiences and to school groups. Tours focus on art and nature, engaging participants to explore the Park’s monumental sculptures, ecosystems, and the plants and animals that coexist on the NCMA’s campus. Help us provide memorable experiences for a wide range of visitors. Learn more about this volunteer position.
