During Art in Bloom, March 19–23, paid timed tickets are required for admission to West Building. Paid tickets are also required for the exhibition The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure in East Building. Please note that Art in Bloom is sold out. East Building collection galleries and the Museum Park remain open and free to visitors.

Educator Resources

With tours, virtual programs, and online resources, teachers and their students can explore and enjoy the Museum, both in the galleries and in the classroom. The NCMA offers a variety of programs and resources—on-site, online, and statewide—to help educators of all subjects teach in and through the arts.

The relaxed structure of this event allows time for teachers to explore the Museum’s collection and to network and create. Refreshments, ideas, and free resources provided."

NCMA Learn

Explore NCMA Learn, an educational resource from the North Carolina Museum of Art! This site is designed for educators, students, and anyone interested in looking at and learning from works of art.

Explore works of art that are relevant across subjects and grade levels. Use lesson plans designed by teachers to easily integrate art into your curriculum. Learn through rich multimedia resources such as video interviews with artists or quick tips to spark ideas. Discover learning opportunities at the NCMA.

    Professional Development for Your Organization

    Let the Museum become your classroom for your next school or countywide teacher professional development day. Sessions include an overview of our teacher resources and programs and your choice from a menu of topics. Call (919) 664-6748 or email jill.taylor@dncr.nc.gov to schedule a session or inquire about the possibility of providing professional development at your school. Reservations must be made at least four weeks in advance and are based on availability.

  • Free: 1–2 hour session; fee-based: 3–5 hour workshops

    Tours

    Teachers, imagine a classroom filled with astonishing sculpture from Africa, a real mummy coffin from ancient Egypt, a sculpture of Hercules from ancient Rome, portraits of America’s founders painted by artists who actually knew them, masterpieces from around the world (to discuss in French and Spanish with your students), challenging and thought-provoking contemporary art that’s off the wall and on it!
