College
Explore the Park, wander the galleries, and find your place at the NCMA through in-person and virtual activities planned by our College Advisory Council.
Through juried exhibitions, internship opportunities, and peer-led activities, college students across the state can express themselves and gain valuable experience.
Internships
College students and recent graduates benefit from interning at the NCMA by learning and contributing to the work of an art museum.

NCMA Student Guides
In this program NC college students learn about the art collection, train with NCMA staff and docents, and give tours to the public. Student guides create a welcoming experience for all and inspire creativity and connection through the arts. Includes monthly trainings and opportunities to be student guides at Museum events, intergenerational tours with docents, and mini tours through the Art on the Dot: Students program on select Fridays. Common Ground: Art, Nature, and People
Call for Submissions for College Exhibition and Park Pictures
The North Carolina Museum of Art connects art, nature, and people through art in the Park, nature in the galleries, and community-centered programming all year round. What does the intersection of art, nature, and people look like in your life? Inspired by Nancy Baker Cahill: Ecologies of Scale (on view at the NCMA September 26, 2026–January 31, 2027), Common Ground: Art, Nature, and People explores three themes: connections to nature, environmental justice, and human well-being.
The NCMA is looking for submissions for two opportunities within the Common Ground: Art, Nature, and People project—Park Pictures and an exhibition of art by college students. College artists must submit applications that reflect on one or more of the themes. Applicants can submit for both projects. Submissions are due by Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Click the Submit button for more information and to apply. Please direct all questions to Sabrina.Hurtado@dncr.nc.gov.
