2022 NCMA Camps

Let your child’s imagination soar. These fun-filled camps are the perfect place to discover art both indoors and out. Enhanced by exploration of the Museum’s galleries and Park, camps include drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture; nature walks; storytelling; and creative movement. Each camp’s offerings are unique, so children may enjoy more than one session.

Camp Details

Each camp is Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm, with classes for ages 6–7, 7–8, 8–9, 9–11, and 12–14. 

Registration and Pricing 

  • $275 Members (per camp)
  • $305 Nonmembers (per camp)
  • $35 Early drop-off  (8:00 am)
  • $35 Late pickup (5:30 pm) 

Camps go on sale Wednesday, February 2, for members and Wednesday, March 2, for nonmembers. 

Cancellation Policy

To receive a refund (less a $50 fee per student, per camp), you must cancel at least three weeks before the first day of the camp. No refunds will be made during the three weeks before each camp. If the NCMA cancels a camp, a full refund will be made.

Animal Adventures

Stalk wild and wonderful animals from across the globe.  Stuff, build, draw, and paint the beasts that roam the earth and the outer limits of your imagination.

Water Works
Dive into a week of aquatic-inspired art. Let water be your inspiration—paint with watercolors, image undersea creatures, and explore the pools and ponds of the Museum Park.

June 27–July 1
Up in the Clouds
Keep your head in the clouds and let your imagination soar! Explore the sky and beyond to create your own art—cloudscapes, birds, rockets, and even outer space.

July 11–15
Ready! Set! Paint!

Experiment with both traditional and nontraditional painting. Apply paint and pigment on canvas in organized ways or splatter, drip, and use everything but brushes.

July 18–22
Fiber Fun

Let the patterns and rhythms of African textiles inspire you as you sew, paint, and build your own bold works of art.

The CLAYground

Get your hands dirty molding and sculpting your way though a week of clay projects and building your own sculptural masterpieces.

August 1–5
Put on a Happy Face

You’ll make faces with paint, clay, and photography inspired by the many portraits at the NCMA.

August 8–12
Once upon a Time

Art and stories go hand-in-hand. Explore how art tells stories and stories evoke art! Uncover exciting new stories and create art inspired by them.

August 15–19
Sense-sational Art

Experience art with more than just your eyes! Explore all five senses as you taste, touch, hear, and smell your way through a week of art.

August 22–26
It’s Not Easy Being Green

Find inspiration in everyday items. Bring found objects and recycled materials to life by transforming them into beautiful works of art.

From knitting projects to jewelry making, this week is all about how you can create your own fashionable, wearable art.

Where will you find your muse? See inspiration everywhere as you uncover what spoke to the artists in our galleries and what inspires you.

Fields of View

Power down and take time to connect with nature. While looking at landscape paintings and hiking trails in the Park, get up close and personal with the natural world and capture your own views of nature.

Materials REMIX

Make room for media that goes beyond paint on canvas. Find inspiration in unexpected and unusual materials as you paint, sculpt, and draw your way through this unpredictable week.

Big or Little?

Art comes in all sizes, big and small.  Push the boundaries as you create life-size works as well as works that are teeny-tiny!
