The NCMA is where the arts come to life with engaging programs for kids and their grown-ups.

Make cool art, take a playful tour, and enjoy creative inspiration together with our fun-filled events and hands-on activities in the Museum galleries and Park.

Community Days

Get to know your Museum with special access for all ages during free community days. Meet artists, create your own projects, and discover the arts up close with fun activities for the whole family.

Family-Friendly Tours

Discover new-to-you works of art or say hi to old favorites with playful thematic tours led by NCMA docents. Enjoy a family-friendly tour in the Museum galleries or discover art in the Park on a What’s That Sculpture? tour.

What’s in the Box?


Have fun while exploring art together! Workshops include close encounters with works of art, movement and sensory play, and art activities that stretch the imagination.

Families with children ages 3–5

Family Studio


Kids and adults dive into discussions about works of art to make inspired connections between hands-on art making and creative thinking. Learn from expert artists to create your own art while exploring artists’ processes, art materials, and art skills.

Artful Story Time


Join us for lively story sessions inspired by art! Look around, listen to children’s books, and move and play with featured readers as we make connections with original works of art.

Discover on Your Own: NCMA to Go Activity Kits


Get creative with NCMA art and artists at home! Pick up an activity kit with materials for a complete hands-on project plus written instructions (in English and Spanish). Find kits at the Museum on distribution days or in select public libraries across the state.

Borrow these family resources to enhance your Museum Park adventure. Both the Art and Nature Packs are filled with activity guides, in English and Spanish, as well as materials to explore art and nature across our campus.
