Small School presents Jonathan Barnbrook

Canceled

About the lecturer
Jonathan Barnbrook has a multifaceted practice that includes activism, graphic design, typeface design, industrial design, and motion graphics. His most famous typeface, Mason, became one of the first digital acquisitions by the Museum of Modern Art, New York. In 2007 his contribution to British graphic design was recognized with the retrospective exhibition Friendly Fire at the Design Museum in London. The 2009 exhibition Collateral Damage presented a retrospective of Barnbrook’s more political design.

Barnbrook believes design shapes the way we perceive the world and can facilitate social change. He has art directed for the anticorporate collective Adbusters and participated in the First Things First 2000 Manifesto, a proposed reversal of priorities in the way graphic design is used commercially. Barnbrook has also produced many copyright-free designs for political or social justice purposes.

Small School is an art-based alternative education platform serving Raleigh by providing opportunities to directly engage with prominent national and international visiting artists.
