Dom Flemons’s Bronze Buckaroo Film and Songster Show blends live music, film, and history to celebrate the legacy of Black cowboys and Black roots music.
The first act pairs songs from Flemons’s Grammy-nominated Black Cowboys album with scenes from the groundbreaking 1939 film The Bronze Buckaroo. The second act showcases a century of Black American roots traditions—folk, blues, country, and bluegrass—interwoven with Flemons’s stories, scholarship, and originals from his album Traveling Wildfire. The result is an engaging journey through the history and impact of Black artists in American music.
