Jazz at the NCMA presents Boney James with special guests Maysa and Kenny Lattimore

The NCMA invites you to an invigorating triple bill featuring four-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist Boney James, Grammy-nominated jazz, R&B, and soul vocalist Maysa, and Grammy-nominated R&B/soul/jazz vocalist Kenny Lattimore.

About Boney James
Detour is chart-topping jazz/R&B sax player Boney James’s 18th studio album. Appropriately titled, this latest album is a subtle stylistic turn that builds on the commercial success of 2020’s Solid, his highest charting release ever on the pop charts, peaking in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Like Solid, Detour provides a welcome respite from an increasingly foreboding world filled with political strife. It’s a trip through James’s distinctive contemporary jazz/R&B landscapes, layered in quicksilver watercolor images and cinematic set pieces. Detour represents the next extension of James’s trademark blend of genres, which includes blues, soul, roots, classical, art-pop, and hip-hop.

About Maysa
Fans of good soul music and music that is good for the soul have known and appreciated Maysa Leak for 30 plus years. We knew her especially as the best loved of the rotating roster of super-talented vocalists who helped create Incognito’s signature jazz/funk. Maysa voice—sultry, jazzy, and soulful—powered Incognito to international super stardom on a series of albums in the 1990s.

Maysa seamlessly transitioned to a solo career that has yielded 14 highly acclaimed albums and many sold-out live performances, cementing her reputation as one of the best artists working in the game today.

About Kenny Lattimore
Hailed by the New York Times as a “modern soul man,” Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Kenny Lattimore is in a groove with the #1 Billboard-charting hit Take A Dose. Following years of major cable deals, he is now producing consistent chart-topping music on his independent label SincereSoul Records.

“I want to authentically perform music that covers all the genres and emotions that I have lived and loved throughout the years. From breakup and makeup songs to the highs and lows, from gospel to jazz to R&B—I want to make sure each album reveals more about me.”
