Family Studio: Fantastic Plaster Figures
Guided by expert artists, look closely at original works of art and find inspiration to create your own projects during these two-hour studio workshops. Sessions include a guided gallery tour plus time in the art studio.
Faces, forms, and figures appear throughout the exhibition To Take Shape and Meaning: Form and Design in Contemporary American Indian Art. Enjoy a look at the ways contemporary Native artists use the human form to tell powerful stories. Then, sculpt a figure from plaster and adorn it with symbols and decorations to tell stories from your own family during studio time.
This workshop is taught by artist and educator Alisha Locklear Monroe (Lumbee).
All participants (children and adults) must have a ticket. All materials are included. A separate exhibition ticket is not required. Best for families with children ages 5 to 11.
