Crochet Coral Reef Project Satellite Reef

In the spring of 2022, the NCMA hosts the North Carolina Satellite Reef, part of the Crochet Coral Reef project by Christine Wertheim and Margaret Wertheim of the Institute For Figuring, a Los Angeles–based organization dedicated to the poetic and aesthetic dimensions of science and mathematics. North Carolina fiber artists, crochet enthusiasts, craftivists, and crochet beginners can create individual parts of the satellite reef, which will be on view in the exhibition Fault Lines: Art and the Environment.

We invite you to contribute your crocheted pieces! Learn how.

Grow the Reef!

Drop off your contributions during Museum open hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, at the Membership and Tickets desk in East Building. Make sure to label your work, as we will list the names of every contributing community artist on a wall label in the exhibition Fault Lines.

Final day for drop-off is Saturday, February 5.
