Boys and Girls Clubs of America Arts Contest Southeast Regional Winners

September 10, 2020—December 31, 2020
North Carolina Museum of Art
Each year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America hosts a national arts contest to “inspire creativity and skill development in photography, visual arts, and digital design.” This year, the NCMA partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County, hosts of the 2019–2020 Southeast Regional contest, to exhibit the winners at this regional level. These works were to be exhibited at the NCMA in April 2020; because of closure, we are now sharing these works with you, and a bit about the process, in a virtual format. See an album of winning artworks here, and read more about the process on Circa, the Museum blog.

How did we get here? Local clubs across the Southeast submitted their winners to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County in March; they received over 650 pieces! Though the timeline was delayed, these pieces were judged by a panel of judges in July. Regional winners will advance to the national level; other pieces were returned to their local clubs and the students who created them.

Please join us in celebrating not only the work of these talented students, but also the work of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County.

UPDATE

Our local Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club has two National Fine Arts winners: Dylan H and Alexis G. In addition, Janaya B was chosen as a winner in the ImageMakers National Photography Contest. Congratulations to these young members and the club!

Nine national winners in total came out of the Southeast Regional show.
