Exhibition Submissions

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

The North Carolina Museum of Art only reviews unsolicited proposals for temporary exhibitions from North Carolina artists or representatives, as well as other art institutions. All proposals MUST include the following information:

FOR ARTISTS

Artist statement and resume or CV detailing the artist’s education, grants, awards, fellowships, apprenticeships, exhibitions, collections, teaching positions, and gallery representation or affiliations.

Ten images that illustrate the scope of the exhibition. Images must be submitted digitally via CD/DVD.

Illustrated image caption sheet for 10 images, including the title, date, medium, and dimensions. An image of each work must be included on this sheet.

Self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to accommodate the return of your materials. Submissions that do not contain an envelope will not be considered, and contents will be discarded.

THE NCMA ACCEPTS SUBMISSIONS VIA MAIL ONLY. DIGITAL AND EMAIL SUBMISSIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

FOR CURATORS/EXHIBITION ORGANIZERS

Brief statement about the organizer/curator and a one-page description of the exhibition.

Checklist of works included in the proposed exhibition. Checklist must include the title, date, medium, and dimensions.

Ten images that illustrate the scope of the exhibition. Images must be submitted digitally via CD/DVD.

Illustrated image caption sheet for 10 images, including the title, date, medium, and dimensions. An image of each work must be included on this sheet.

Space and materials required to display the works and the availability of the exhibition.

If applicable: rental fee and other associated costs.

Self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to accommodate the return of your materials. Submissions that do not contain an envelope will not be considered, and contents will be discarded.

Most exhibitions are planned a minimum of two years in advance. Submissions will be reviewed twice a year. Please do not bring original artwork to the Museum. A representative of the Museum will contact you should additional materials be requested for further consideration.

The Museum will make every effort to safeguard your submission materials but cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage.
