The Museum is open with updated hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Free timed tickets for the Museum collection galleries encourage social distancing, and increased health and safety procedures are in place. Following local ordinances, visitors are required to wear a mask inside all buildings, including restrooms and concession buildings. For the safety of everyone, we ask that all outdoor event attendees wear masks both outdoors and indoors. Learn more about these updates at ncartmuseum.org/covid19.

Virtual Lunchtime Lecture “African Arts at the NCMA: Challenging Canon, Growing the Collection”

The NCMA African Art collection has experienced unprecedented growth since the hiring of its first full-time curator in 2018. Join Amanda Maples as she highlights several new acquisitions—historic and contemporary—and discusses some of the exciting changes she has made to the African art gallery in an effort to challenge preconceptions about African art and art history. Hear how she is engaging with North Carolina’s African and diaspora community and find out how you can add your voice!
