The Emotional Landscape: Painting Color and Light with Leslie Pruneau

We see colors because of light, and when painting outside, or en plein air, we not only see the natural colors but also get to take into consideration the experience of painting with nature. Color choices can be more intentional, and purposeful applications can be nurtured as expressions of our own feelings in such a setting. This is a way for artists to add content to their paintings.

In this workshop we observe the trees and picturesque meadowlands of the Museum Park. Participants are inspired through live demonstrations, discussions about materials and setup, intentional and unintentional color mixing, application processes, and both private and group critiques. We focus on our surroundings and our own feelings while being present in nature.

Supplies are not included. This workshop is open to interpretation, and most painting and drawing mediums are welcome. The instructor will demonstrate in oil paint. It is recommended that participants be fundamentally familiar with their materials. A plein air supplies checklist is available upon registration, and a list of specific painting medium supplies is available upon request.
