Text and Image: Collage Postcards Inspired by The Time Is Always Now

Participants explore the exhibition, engaging with its themes of identity, representation, history, and kinship. They then reflect on work in the show and respond by creating a mixed-media postcard that incorporates collage, text, and drawing. This process highlights the relationship between word and image while inviting personal reflection on the exhibition’s themes.

By integrating found materials, text fragments, and visual elements, participants explore how contemporary artists reframe representation and personal narratives.

Participants in this workshop have the opportunity to submit an image of their artwork to Return to Sender, an interactive postcard art show connecting artists and communities across North Carolina. Selected works will be featured in a shared pop-up exhibition during End Paper: NCMA Art Book Fair on September 20–21, 2025, at the NCMA in Raleigh, followed by a rotating show at the NCMA, Winston-Salem.
