Studio Workshop: Watercolor Loose and Fast with Ryan Fox
The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the North Carolina Museum of Art require studio program participants ages 13 and up to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 NAAT or PCR test result; test results must be within 72 hours of the event. Please plan to have one of these items in hand upon entry for Museum personnel.
Turn your old notions of watercolor upside-down in this workshop with artist Ryan Fox. Explore numerous techniques in watercolor painting, such as wet-into-wet, charging color, intentional water blossoms, scraping, spattering, and adding texture. The workshop is structured as a learning experience with demonstrations, one-on-one consultations, and constructive critiques. Students with all levels of experience are encouraged to participate.
Students will complete several quarter-sheet (11 — 15 in.) paintings during the class. Students can work from their own photographs or use samples provided by the instructor.
