We’re reimagining the People’s Collection, and your favorites may be on the move. If you’re visiting to see a particular object, please email help@ncartmuseum.org to confirm it’s on view. Staff will respond as soon as possible during gallery hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.

Our Judaic, Rodin, Italian, Dutch and Renaissance, and Modern and Contemporary galleries will remain on view through May 29, 2022, along with a selection of works from the African arts collection. West Building will then close to the public, reopening October 8, 2022. Learn more about this exciting reinstallation project and related reopening celebrations.

Story Time in the Garden

Join us for a lively story time inspired by art. Come look, listen, and move as we make connections between art, nature, and children’s books in our beautiful outdoor garden theater. Best for ages 2 and up with adult caregivers.

This session is presented by our friends at Saddle Up and Read. Join founder Caitlin Gooch and miniature horse Man Man to read books that celebrate diverse characters and stories, animals we love, and the natural world around us.

About Saddle Up and Read

Saddle Up and Read is on a mission to encourage youth to achieve literary excellence through equine activities. In 2017 founder Caitlin Gooch noticed the literacy rates in North Carolina were low. Caitlin acted immediately by creating an incentive with a local library for young readers to visit her family horse farm. Now an established nonprofit working to inspire a love for reading so children develop into lifelong readers, Saddle Up and Read has visited elementary schools, libraries, childcare centers, church youth groups, and community events to use the excitement and energy around horses to grow young people into lifelong readers.
