Small School presents Spectral Transmissions, a Performance by Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher

Small School presents Spectral Transmissions, a cinema, stage, and audio project that invites writers, filmmakers, artists, and musicians to reimagine the ghost story as a tool for addressing the issues of the contemporary world.

It is directed and performed by the Cinema Eye and Independent Spirit award–winning documentary filmmakers Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher (October Country, The Gospel of Eureka, Rougarouing), with a musical score by Palmieri, stage production by Aaron Rosenblum (Lou Reed’s New York, David Byrne’s Contemporary Color), and production design by Peter Ksander (Obie award–winning founder and curator of Incubator Arts in New York).

About the artists
Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher are a collaborative filmmaking/multimedia team. Their first feature as directors, October Country, won the Grand Jury Prize at Silverdocs, received two Cinema Eye Honors, and was nominated for a 2009 Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary. The film is a haunting portrait of American poverty, described by A. O. Scott as a “Joyce Carol Oates novel rendered as a documentary.”

Their most recent feature film, The Gospel of Eureka, premiered at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival. Palmieri’s music video director credits include Sharon Van Etten, Beck, the Strokes, and the Foo Fighters. Mosher’s writing can be found in the Portland Queer anthology, Failed States journal, and other publications.

Small School is an art-based alternative education platform serving Raleigh by providing opportunities to directly engage with prominent national and international visiting artists.
