About the artists
Hailed for their “textural versatility and grave beauty” (The Strad), the Ulysses Quartet has swiftly ascended as one of the most dynamic ensembles in the chamber music world. Formed in 2015 in New York City, the quartet has garnered top prizes at prestigious competitions, including the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, First Prize at the 2018 Schoenfeld International String Competition, and victories at the Vietnam International Music Competition and the American Prize. They also secured Second Prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition.
Their performances have graced esteemed venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Jordan Hall, the Taiwan National Recital Hall, and the Harbin Grand Theatre. Notable engagements include appearances at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Premiere Performances of Hong Kong, and the Naumburg Orchestral Concerts. The quartet is equally committed to community outreach, bringing music to unconventional spaces like farmers markets and living rooms, aiming to reach audiences who might not typically attend formal concerts.
The Ulysses Quartet promises an afternoon of masterful artistry and engaging repertoire. Their program showcases both classical masterpieces and contemporary works, reflecting their dedication to expanding the string quartet tradition. This concert offers a unique opportunity to experience the quartet’s rich textures and dynamic interplay, making it a must-see event for chamber music enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
