About the artists
The Poiesis Quartet is rapidly emerging as one of the most compelling young ensembles in chamber music today, having just won the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition. Founded in 2022 at Oberlin Conservatory, this dynamic group has already garnered significant acclaim, including the 2023 Grand Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, along with the Senior Strings Gold Medal and the Lift Every Voice prize for outstanding performance of a work by a historically underrepresented composer. They also clinched the Gold Medal and BIPOC Prize at the 2023 St. Paul String Quartet Competition.

The quartet is known for its interdisciplinary approach and commitment to diverse programming. Their performances are characterized by a rich, cohesive sound and a deep emotional resonance, earning them praise such as “an ensemble to watch” (Hyde Park Herald) and commendations for their “extraordinary, honeyed group sound” (Cleveland Classical).

The Poiesis Quartet promises an afternoon of innovative and emotionally stirring chamber music. Their program features both classical masterpieces and contemporary works, reflecting their dedication to expanding the traditional quartet repertoire. This is a performance not to be missed by chamber music enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
