Personal and Universal: Exploring Meaning in Collage with Luke Buchanan
Join artist Luke Buchanan for a hands-on exploration of symbolism and abstraction through collage. In this workshop participants reflect on how artists use imagery to convey both personal and universal themes. Using layered compositions, color, and abstraction, students create collages that represent memories, emotions, or personal experiences. This class is perfect for those interested in experimenting with mixed media and storytelling through visual art.
Participants in this workshop have the opportunity to submit an image of their artwork to Return to Sender, an interactive postcard art show connecting artists and communities across North Carolina. Selected works will be featured in a shared pop-up exhibition during End Paper: NCMA Art Book Fair on September 20–21, 2025, at the NCMA in Raleigh, followed by a rotating show at the NCMA, Winston-Salem.
