NC Indigenous Artist Festival

Celebrate American Indian artists from tribes across North Carolina at our third annual festival. This event highlights the living traditions of dance, jewelry making, fine art, and more from established and emerging Native artists.

Also enjoy free access to exhibitions The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure and Grace Hartigan: The Gift of Attention.

Food and beverages are available for purchase in East Café in East Building.

Schedule of events

  • 10 am–4 pm Vendors and demonstrations, East Building
  • 10 am–4 pm Self-guided Indigenous art collection tour, West Building
  • 10 am–4 pm Hands-on gourd painting, copper etching with Harlen Chavis, Gipson Plaza
  • 10 am, 11:45 am, and 2 pm Indigenous art collection tours with Nancy Chavis, West Building
  • 10 am, 11 am, noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm Dancing and drumming demonstrations, Gipson Plaza
  • 10 am–noon and 1–3 pm Corn-husk doll-making classes with Laura Walkingstick, East Building (first come, first served)
