NCMA Film Club: Flower Punk

If you enjoy watching and talking about films, join us for a virtual meeting of the NCMA Film Club! This month’s selection, inspired by Art in Bloom, is the short documentary Flower Punk.

Our special guests for the discussion will be Art in Bloom floral designers Onay Cruz Gutierrez, Carol Dowd, and Joseph Barnes.

We rely on your support and generosity during Art in Bloom, the Museum’s annual fund raiser. Proceeds support general operations, including virtual and live programs, throughout the year. If you are attending a free event, please consider making a donation.

Flower Punk (2019). Directed by Alison Klayman. 28 min. NR

Japanese botanical artist and former punk musician Azuma Makoto creates breathtaking floral sculptures that have been sent into space and into the depths of the ocean. This intimate portrait explores his work, creative process, and his musings on the ephemeral nature of flowers.

How it works

Details on how to watch the film will be included in the registration confirmation email along with the Zoom link to join the discussion. You will also be sent a reminder email with the Zoom meeting info one hour before.

If you do not receive a confirmation email or for additional questions on the content of this program, email Maria Lopez.
