NCMA Cinema—Mucha: The Story of an Artist Who Created a Style

The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the North Carolina Museum of Art require film and lecture program participants ages 13 and up to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 NAAT or PCR test result; test results must be within 72 hours of the event. Mucha: The Story of an Artist Who Created a Style (2020). Directed by Roman Vávra, 95 min., NR

This documentary explores the life of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, a pioneer of the art nouveau movement, from the perspective of his son Jiří Mucha, using re-enactments, animations, archival footage, artwork, and photographs.

After the screening there will be a virtual conversation with the filmmaker and Alphonse Mucha’s grandson, John Mucha.
