Crooklyn (1994). Directed by Spike Lee, 115 min., PG-13

Troy has to cope with her five rambunctious brothers, eccentric neighbors, and the challenges of being a young girl in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn in the 1970s. “Modulating from heavy to light, from angry to lyrical, and so on, the movie’s an enjoyable, emotional symphony.” (Washington Post)
