Mindful Museum: Virtual Art-Inspired Poetry Workshop

Join writer-scholar Jameela F. Dallis to make language art! Write ekphrastic poems inspired by pieces from the Museum’s collection. Ekphrasis means “description” in Greek, and ekphrastic poems are often vivid descriptions of works of art. Through grounding exercises, reflections, and prompts, participants respond to selected artworks in fun and unexpected ways. During this two-hour workshop, you will have extended time to engage with works of art, yourself, and each other through creative writing. All are welcome, and no previous poetry writing experience is necessary. Discussion and sharing are encouraged.

Space is limited. For ages 16 and up.
