Meet the Maker: Angela Eastman Basket-Weaving Demonstration
During this Meet the Maker event, Angela Eastman demonstrates creating an open-weave reed basket traditionally used for storing garlic and onions. Come by to learn about basketry, Penland School of Craft, and Eastman’s creative process. Her merchandise is for sale in the Museum Store during the event.
About the artist
Angela Eastman is an artist and teacher based in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She completed the Core Fellowship at Penland School of Craft in 2014 and went on to receive her MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2018. Angela is a multimedia artist who creates sculptures, baskets, and jewelry that combine traditional weaving techniques with original forms.
