The Museum is open with updated hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Following local ordinances, visitors are required to wear a mask inside all buildings, including restrooms and concession buildings, and at outdoor events. For some events participants ages 13 and up must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 NAAT or PCR test result; test results must be within 72 hours of the event. Check individual event pages to see if this applies; at this time it is not required for gallery, exhibition, tour, or Park visits. Learn more at ncartmuseum.org/covid19.

Fall HBCU Day in the Park

Canceled

We’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our Fall HBCU Day so that we may expand the afternoon into a weekend of programming, with more partners, more HBCUs involved, and more access to students and visitors around the state. We look forward to rescheduling in the spring.

Celebrate the wealth of tradition at North Carolina’s historically Black colleges and universities with the first HBCU Day in the Park. Learn more about area colleges through art making, music, Park activities, and more. All are welcome.

This first NCMA HBCU day is in partnership with alumni, faculty, and staff at Shaw University, St. Augustine’s University, NC Central University, and Elizabeth City State University. The planning for the events of the day was part of the summer internship work of students involved with the HBCU/MIHE internship funded by the State of North Carolina. In partnership with staff working to amplify student voices, interns had the goal of bringing more awareness to their college peers of the Museum as a resource for respite and reflection.

With current safety precautions in mind, most activities planned for this large gathering (including performances by the ECSU marching band and screen printing with MacFly Fresh Printing Co.) will take place in the Museum Park. Bilingual self-guided tour materials designed by students are available in the Museum galleries as well.
