Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop with Jaki Shelton Green, NC Poet Laureate
Join NC Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green for this invigorating two-hour ekphrastic poetry workshop designed to expand your experience with art and inspire your writing.
The tradition of engaging with works of art is known in poetry as ekphrasis (the Greek ek for out of + phrasis for expression). We invite you to learn how to use art from the People’s Collection as a springboard for your own poems, stories, and memoirs.
The workshop is open to writers at all stages of their careers and will offer poets a range of approaches to connect with a work of art in another medium.
(This workshop will also be offered at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) on Saturday, October 8, and Saturday, December 10, from 10 am–noon. Registration: secca.org)
