Educator Expo
Join us for an immersive celebration of learning and expanding world views. Feel connected to the Museum, a community of educators, and the larger purpose of your work. Our annual Educator Expo welcomes over two hundred educators each year in celebration of educators’ work.
This program provides an opportunity for teachers to enjoy refreshments, network, participate in activities designed especially for them, obtain resources, and have after-hours access to the Museum and exhibitions in both buildings. Begin your evening in West Building to talk with community partners, explore immersive learning experiences, or enjoy a quiet walk in the galleries. Then walk across Gipson Plaza to enjoy free access to the fall exhibition Dutch Art in a Global Age: Masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and discuss connections to your classroom with our Ask Me docents. Expo tickets are available on the hour at 4 and 5 pm to allow educators to select an entry time that fits their schedule.
Driving Questions
This year’s Educator Expo is meant to spark curiosity around key questions:
- How might understanding our own identities help us better understand others’ perspectives?
- How do the social, cultural, economic, and political forces—both real and imagined—of a place shape us and our interactions with each other?
- How can museum objects help us connect to people’s lived experiences across time and place?
- How can we better engage students in culturally and historically responsive ways?
These questions build upon guiding questions from programming for educators and students, such as the Art and Global Learning online course, tours, and virtual field trips.
