In the spring of 2022, the NCMA will host a satellite Crochet Coral Reef, part of the work of Margaret and Christine Wertheim and the Institute for Figuring, a Los Angeles–based organization dedicated to the poetic and aesthetic dimensions of science and mathematics. N.C. fiber artists, crochet enthusiasts, craftivists, and crochet beginners all have the chance to create individual parts of the crochet coral reef that will be on view at the Museum.
In her artist talk, Margaret Wertheim describes the project, its history, and importance and is available to answer questions from those interested in being contributing creators.
