Co-presented with NC State LIVE: Murielle Elizéon and Shana Tucker in When We Were Queens
Join acclaimed Durham-based cellist Shana Tucker and Saxapahaw-based French choreographer Murielle Elizéon (co-creator of Culture Mill) for the world premiere of a powerful multidisciplinary performance presented as a diptych—two solos in conversation.
The work considers the body as a repository of complex histories and illuminates both shared and individual experience embedded in the bodies of women of color from the African diaspora. Together, Elizéon and Tucker explore a shared ancestry of violence and reclaim their power. This immersive experience includes performances in the Museum’s galleries as well as a conversation with the artists.
