ASD Friendly What’s in the Box?
Spend the morning at the Museum discovering art! This program is specifically designed for preschoolers with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
Meet a work of art and get your creative juices flowing in this session for young artists and their caregivers. Adults and children take a visit to the Museum galleries and create unique works of art in our studios. We make connections through stories, art making, and gallery play in a quiet, low-sensory environment before the Museum opens to the public. This session is best for participants with a learning age of 3—5 years.
In this session learn more about the aerial landscape seen in Hans Thoma’s painting Wondrous Birds. Then create a process-art painting of your own to take home!
To register, email courtney.klemens@ncdcr.gov. Please let us know the number of people (adults and children) in your group and if there are any accessible accommodations you require (audio description, ASL, noise-canceling headphones, etc.).
