Afrofuturism: Piercing the Veil

Watch the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Dance Program perform a contemporary piece honoring the unforgettable designs of Academy Award winner Ruth E. Carter. According to Dr. Kristi Vincent Johnson, director of dance in the Department of Theatre at North Carolina Central University, “The work centers Afrofuturism as a reality beyond African diasporic minds, cultures, and bodily experiences that we are empowered to envision, explore, and manifest.”

A talkback (informal discussion with the audience) with Dr. Johnson and student dancers follows the performance.
