Art and mindfulness are natural complements. Both are reflective and healing, and when they come together, a sense of refuge is created. The Mindful Museum series offers opportunities to calm the mind, process emotions, cultivate inspiration, and find connection both with art and with our community.

You will find a variety of experiences and modalities represented, such as family Growga, yoga in the galleries, accessible sensory journeys, and art-inspired poetry.

Slow Art at the NCMA
At the NCMA our approach is multisensory and embodied—activating all the senses to become fully present in order to take in an artwork and create the opportunity for a personal connection. We have found that this form of mindfulness is an accessible and effective way to engage with yourself, others, and art in a deeper way.
