Chamber Music Raleigh’s popular Sights & Sounds on Sundays series brings some of today’s most compelling musicians to the North Carolina Museum of Art’s intimate and acoustically exceptional SECU Auditorium. This special concert is co-produced by Chamber Music Raleigh and the NCMA’s Initiative for Jewish Art and Culture, bringing together exceptional artists, distinctive programming, and the energy of live performance in a close-up, thoughtfully curated setting.
About the Artists
Wu Fei and Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz create a striking musical dialogue among Chinese, Jewish, Middle Eastern, jazz, and contemporary traditions. Their collaboration grew from Hello Gold Mountain, Wu Fei’s symphonic work inspired by Jewish refugees who found sanctuary in Shanghai during World War II, and has been praised by Big Ears as “the magic of musical recombination.” Presented in partnership with the NCMA’s Initiative for Jewish Art and Culture, this special concert brings the shimmering sound of the guzheng together with bass, oud, and voice in a powerful exploration of migration, memory, and cultural connection.
