Connections in the Patton Collection

The collection of modern American art recently given by Mary and Jim Patton is a truly transformative gift for the NCMA. Many of the artists represented are new to the Museum’s permanent collection. Among these are Hans Hoffman, David Park, Ellsworth Kelly, and Sean Scully. Other artists are already represented by works at the NCMA. These include Milton Avery, Richard Diebenkorn, George Rickey, Harry Bertoia, Robert Motherwell, Frank Stella, and Donald Sultan. Adding work by these artists allows us to feature their contributions in greater depth. This slide show explores connections between the Patton Collection–now on view in the NCMA’s East Building–and the Museum’s permanent collection in West Building.
