Join us for a lunchtime lecture with Ángel Gonzalez, GlaxoSmithKline Curatorial Research Fellow, to learn about the Museum’s collection of ancient American art. The NCMA has one of the most complete samples of ancient American art in the state, spanning a diverse geographic area from northern Mexico to Peru, a myriad of cultures and languages, and more than 2,000 years of history. Gonzalez brings a refreshing view of unique materials from three cultural areas (Mesoamerica, Central America, and the Andes), encompassing at least seven present-day countries. He illustrates the history and worldview of these ancient societies to help us understand the importance of these works of art.
