Please note, the galleries will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 26; for Christmas on Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25; and Friday, January 1. The Museum is now open with updated hours, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, required free timed tickets to encourage social distancing, and increased health and safety procedures including required cloth masks. Learn more about these updates in this video or at ncartmuseum.org/covid19. Museum from Home programming continues, including the NCMA Virtual Exhibitions Subscription and virtual events.
We’ve reimagined our Art in Motion Sculpture Race to take place in cyberspace, and in your homes! Celebrate art and human innovation by building a dynamic sculpture. The only requirement is that your creation be inspired by a work of art from the Museum’s collection. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories! Even if you don't enter the race, join us for the virtual Exhibition and Awards Ceremony to watch the competition unfold and see who wins. Ends at 8 pm.
How it works:
• Build a homemade dynamic sculpture of any shape, size, or material inspired by an object from the Museum’s collection. (If your sculpture itself does not move, it needs to have a dynamic component, such as a piece that spins like a whirligig, flowing fabric, a stop-motion video, etc.)
While the Museum is now open, Museum from Home programming continues, including the new NCMA Virtual Exhibitions Subscription and ongoing virtual events. Through the NCMA Recommends virtual offerings below, inspired by the Museum collection, we hope to foster contemplation, meditation, and creativity.
