Acclaimed classical guitarist and educator William “Mac” Nelson presents a program of music by 19th- and 20th- century composers in the Western tradition who have used the guitar in creative, unique ways. This program educates and entertains audiences with a wide array of music that exploits the striking tonal colors of the guitar and reveals why the instrument has long been treated by composers as a “miniature orchestra.”
The program includes “Fantasy on Arias from Bellini’s Norma,” by Johann Kaspar Mertz, the first "Partita for Guitar," by Stephen Dodgson, and "Aires de la Mancha," by Federico Moreno-Torroba.
