East Building, SECU Auditorium
Inspired by History and Mystery: Discoveries in the NCMA British Collection, two floral designers battle to see whose interpretation of a work of art is deemed best. Designers Jody McLeod, mayor of Clayton, N.C., and Susan Bain of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., face off to see who best depicts the spirit of the Empire and the Tudor Dynasty. While designers work with identical materials and one surprise element, NCMA conservator Perry Hurt explains the significance of roses—and maybe even men in tights. Audience members cast the deciding votes, and two audience members will take home the finished designs.
Separate tickets required for admission to Art in Bloom.
