Natalia Lonchyna heads the Art Reference Library at the North Carolina Museum of Art. She began her career as a Librarian at the Downtown Branch of the Detroit Public Library. After leaving Motown, Natalia worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Slavic and East European Library. She decided to pursue further studies in art history on the graduate level and ended up working at the Ricker Library of Architecture and Art. Abandoning the tornado prone region of the Midwest plains, the winds of fortune propelled her to the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1998, she came to the NCMA and the rest is history. Natalia’s motto is “Look and Learn.” Come to the museum to look at the art, then come to the library to learn more about it!
