This information is so helpful to me as a docent. I usually just talk about the dynamics of Moran’s use of color. Then I go on tosay that this artist helped the United States to establish the first national park!

I have known and loved the work of Moran for a long time. I think I even saw a painting by him and a photograph taken on the same day of the same subject by Timothy O’Sullivan.
I wasn’t aware of this painting but it is so Turner, so atmospheric.
It’s wonderful you can write about it and associate it with Dr Strangelove, fallout shelters and Mordor !

Haha, thank you so much for that. I’m doing an art presentation in class and I needed more information on this painting. Well after several hours digging and finding nothing online, I stumbled upon this and learned a lot about the painting. Thanks. =)
