Title: Crosscurrents: Art, Craft & Design in North Carolina Dates: September 25, 2005January 8, 2006 Admission: Free Description: Crosscurrents, presented in collaboration with The Mint Museumsin Charlotte, N.C., is a juried exhibition of works by North Carolina artists workingin various media. (Crosscurrents replaces the former North Carolina ArtistsExhibition.) Crosscurrents includes a broad range of works by 28 artists. The works address political and cultural issues of worldwide significance and present-day urgency; they give attention to the human body, the specific individual and ultimately aesthetic matters such as beauty and perception. The exhibition includes much work that has never been shown before as well as several pieces created especially for the show. Contents: Crosscurrents includes 67 works by 23 individual artists and one teamof 5 artists. Click here for complete list of artists arranged by location. Curators: Huston Paschal, curator of modern art at NCMA; Linda Johnson Dougherty, curator of contemporary art, NCMA; Carla M. Hanzal, curator of contemporary art at the Mint Museum of Art; Melissa G. Post, curator of craft and design at the Mint Museum of Craft + Design Tours: Public tours: Saturdays at 11 a.m.October 8November 12December 10 Guided tours for student and adult groups of 10 or more are offered and must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Maximum group size is limited to 60. Tours are scheduled on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. School groups are also admitted free for self-guided visits to exhibitions; reservations for self-guided school group visits must be made at least 10 days in advance.
