Highlighting the Museum’s educational collaboration with public and private schools throughout North Carolina, the student gallery also celebrates the wealth of talent of the state’s next generation of creative spirits.
Founded in 1845, the Governor Morehead School (GMS) in Raleigh is the only residential school for blind and visually impaired students in the state. Fine arts have been an integral part of the curriculum at GMS and that continues today. Visual art has evolved from traditional handicrafts to the current kindergarten through 12th grade program complete with exposure to all of the elements and principles of art and the cultural history of visual art.
