ANYTIME ACTIVITIES

Explore the Museum Park with a Park Backpack, or pick up a Tour-in-a-Tote and explore works inside the Museum. These are free to borrow and can be checked out from the Information Desk. Available in Spanish.

NCMA TRACK-OUT CAMPS

Let your child’s ideas and imagination soar throughout the year! Children can now explore nature and the arts while “tracked-out” of year-round education. These programs are also great if you home-school your children or are just looking to enhance their creative development.

Track-Out Programs include activities for children ages 6–8 and 9–12 selected from drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, nature walks, gallery experiences, and interactive arts, including music, creative movement, storytelling, and poetry. Each program offering is unique, so students may sign up for one, two, or all three sessions during their Track-Out period.

September 22, 2008–May 29, 2009
$250 ($220 Members) per camp
$200 ($175 Members) per camp, holiday week
9 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday
8 a.m. drop-off ($30 per session)
5:30 p.m., Late afternoon pickup ($30 per child) Now available!
Students bring a bag lunch, snacks, and a drink.

CHILDREN'S PERFORMANCES

Children’s Performance Series
October 2008–April 2009
Saturdays | 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Museum Auditorium
$3 (Free for Family-level members and above)
Seating is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Recommended for children ages 5 and up. Most performances are 45 to 55 minutes long.

Celebrating African Dance, Music, and Song with Chuck Davis African American Dance Ensemble
Traditional African culture comes alive in this visual extravaganza of dynamic rhythm and movement. (50 min.)

February 28
Go, Dog, Go! with North Carolina Theatre for Young People
This storybook favorite hits the stage with a musical world of doggy fun starring a colorful cast of “canines.” (50 min.)

March 28
Sounds Crazy with Al Simmons
Laughter abounds in this off-the-wall performance using wacky inventions to explore the science of music. Simmons is a Parents’ Choice Award winner.

April 25
Spectacular Seas with Puppets to Go
An underwater adventure reveals the exotic and fragile creatures of the ocean shown through the magic of puppetry and black lights

Children and their caregivers discover a new adventure in the box each week. Activities are designed to stretch the imagination, foster an interest in art, and introduce children to the Museum in fun and engaging ways.

Kids and adults will delight in creating projects, discovering one another's creativity, and learning about art together. A different theme each week means there's always something new to explore. Plus, participants will build a wonderful collection of take-home art. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
