Charlotte Caspers, artist conservator
Artist conservator Charlotte Caspers explains how she reconstructed a missing panel from Francescuccio Ghissi’s 14th-century St. John Altarpiece. She discusses how the panel’s subject was determined by a study of medieval texts and how she followed Ghissi’s painting methods by studying three Ghissi panels in the NCMA’s collection and a 15th-century guide to painting techniques. Reception follows the lecture.
