(1988) Written and directed by Ron Shelton. Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins. (108 min.) R

One of the all-time great baseball movies. Has-been catcher Crash Davis tries to tame the wild arm of rookie Nuke LaLoosh. Filmed with a great sense of place in Durham, North Carolina, the film shadows a sexy baseball groupie with the pitching fundamentals mojo to turn Nuke’s straw arm into gold.

“A loopy, loving nine innings full of comic curveballs, emotional home runs, and euphoric summertime music” (Toronto Globe and Mail).

This 25th anniversary screening of Bull Durham is presented in association with the NCMA exhibition Bull City Summer, which closes August 31.
