Saving Mr. Banks

Saturday, June 21 | 9:00 pm
(2013) Directed by John Lee Hancock. Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Ruth Wilson. (125 min.) PG-13

Crusty, cash-strapped Pamela Travers finally gives in, after 20 years of badgering from Walt Disney, and allows her famous literary creation to be adapted by his studio. She lays down the law: “No chirping and prancing” and definitely “No animation.” What is her problem? The answer emerges through flashbacks of her difficult Australian childhood, haunted by her adored alcoholic father.

“Very rich in its sense of creative people and their spirit of self-reinvention” (Variety).
