42: the Jackie Robinson Story

Friday, June 13 | 7:30 pm
Events start at 7:30 pm; Movie starts at 9 pm
(2013) Written and directed by Brian Helgeland. Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford, Nicole Beharie. (128 min.) PG-13

Jackie Robinson, a Negro Leagues star, is recruited by the Brooklyn Dodgers’ Branch Rickey because he’s tough enough to withstand the abuse he’ll suffer while integrating major league baseball. This fresh retelling in a critically acclaimed movie released last year brings new appreciation to the magnitude of Robinson’s achievement.

“The style of the film, lush and traditional, but the takeaway, a daily struggle for dignity, is impossibly moving” (Time Out New York).
